SPECIAL GUITAR CLASSES THIS YEAR!
1) A TWO DAY CLASS! VERY BEGINNER 'Strum and Sing'
guitar - This class is designed for someone who has no prior
guitar knowledge. Linda Campbell will be teaching a few
basic chords and how to strum. She will then incorporate
those chords into standard songs that you can sing along to.
The program is geared toward adults (songs that adults would
know) but would also be beneficial to a beginner child/youth.
This two day, eight hour class is perfect for absolute
beginners. It's not too long so you can absorb all the
information, it's easier to get away for just two days
and by the time your fingers start to get sore, you'll
be done the program! Held the first two days of each week.
2) FINGERSTYLE guitar with Bob Evans in Week 2 (July
28th - 31st) and Week 4 (August 12th - 15th). Bob is the winner
of the 2003 US National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship and
we are honored to have him teach at camp. If you are
interested in learning finger style techniques you don't
want to miss this opportunity!
3) BLUES Guitar with Dorian Michael. Learn from one
of the finest Blues players in North America! Available all
four weeks.
Freddie Pelletier is proficient in country, swing and bluegrass styles
and Clint Pelletier in jazz, flamenco, rock and bluegrass.
Although these styles are not offered as a 'special class' they
can provide instruction in these genres in the form of a workshop
or individual lesson if there was an interest.
The Violet Burke-Sharpe Memorial Bursary is a new fund
set up by past guitar camp participants, offered to youth under
age 21, who play any of the above instruments.

What Happens at Camp?
First and foremost, we have lots of fun! We strive to
make you a better player by giving you the tools to
progress at your own speed. The groups will be small
to give you optimum time with the instructor. Each
day will be scheduled with four hours of group instruction
and plenty of time to practice on your own. You can also
set up individual time with the instructor if you wish.
You do not need to know how to read sheet music nor will
it be taught. Theory will be taught starting at whatever
level you are at. Bring a tape recorder to retain all
the information you will be given. Don't expect to be
able to master everything you are taught instantly. It
takes time to make your brain understand and your hands
execute what you need to do to become a better player.
We are giving you tools to take home to enable you to
practice and progress through-out the year.
Every evening features concerts by instructors and any
participant who wishes to perform. The public is welcome
and the last show takes place on the third evening of
each four day session. There is no charge to the public
to attend these shows but we will be gratefully accepting
donations to our Violet Burke-Sharpe Memorial Bursary fund
to send young musicians to camp each year. See the
Memorial Bursary page for details.
Make Camp a Family Event
If three or more immediate (parent/children relationship)
family members attend camp together, each person is eligible
for a $50 per person reduction in your fee for instruction.
Lodging and meal rates will not be reduced if you require them.
